My Lunchbox Diary VI

T seems to have entered another period of rebellion especially because he is getting better at articulating his preferences. He does not like taking bath, brushing teeth, going to the kindergarten, etc. Nor does he like rice or vegetables. There is a long string of things against which he would protest everyday.
And all these tasks have to take twice as much time as usual to complete these days, although the parents are also getting less patient and more efficient to get him to have things done. 😉

It is getting warmer and more humid these days, and T’s appetite has been decreasing at the same time. Yesterday, he did not finish the Japanese pancakes in the lunchbox. In spite of the fact that this result was more or less expected, it was still worrying and alarming to me who is responsible for his lunch.

In the past week, many things happened and the consequences have added more stress to our current daily schedule. As the uncertainty increases, and stress accumulates, a vicious and inauspicious cycle initiates itself. Both K and I have been burning the candle at both ends in the past two months, and with the added accident in the family, the new few months are only to become more harsh.

In a celebration party last weekend, an younger acquaintance asked about family plan and academic career. "Planning ahead" was a piece of advice from me. However, on a second thought, planning is never enough and is not accurate enough to describe the conundrum in which all career women are trapped. Being in control is both a matter of social class and pure luck, let alone the wish to have others' life in control at the same time.

Pray for smooth progress from now on.
