Garden in April 2018

The roses have been in bloom since 2 days ago.
They are doing quite well this spring: blue moon (pinkish purple), distant drums (pink cum orange) and royal sunset (orange). I was only able to fertilize them once last winter, and there were inauspicious signs that their trunks are unwell with fungus. The front yard where they are located is now crowded with all types of weeds and ground covers. Those small plants are also lovely, but they certainly are not pleasant companions to roses in particular, as roses, the queens of flowers, like airy and sunny habitats.

It takes more time and effort and knowledge to trim these climbing roses into good shapes, but time is the thing that I can least afford for at least a couple of years from now. There has been a plan to hire a gardener to clean up the ground and cut down the other 2 trees, which are almost reaching the second flour, but since I am the only one who is concerned with the garden, it still takes more time for me to make up my mind.

Compared with the roses, the peonies, which did excellently in the last few years, only yielded a handful this time. There are still some immature flower buds around, but none of them look really promising. My negligence is to blame.
