My Lunchbox Diary III

Salmon rice ball; orange + tomato, steamed yam coated with almond flakes, chicken nuggets, rice covered with crab and egg sauce. 7 May 2018

After an unexpectedly exhausting golden week, I returned to the routine of preparing T’s lunchbox on Monday.

T has been staying on until late afternoon on Mondays, but other children of the same year group are just starting to get acquainted with the idea of having lunch in the kindergarten. The kindergarten introduced a week’s trial in which children will have to have rice balls (prepared by parents) as a substitute for tea before lunchtime. Therefore, in addition to the usual lunchbox, I made a small rice ball, too.

I wondered if T would not be able to finish everything, but he did. Apparently his belly was probably recharged to well that he skipped his nap in the end.

May 5 is the day of boys in Japan. Families with sons would hang out flags of carp to celebrate the day. Last year, I handmade the "flags" using milk cartons. They were not big in size and only flew in the garden.
