T had a sudden jump in his communication ability during the new year's holiday.
We made a short visit to my maiden home, and it was the 2 weeks in which we spent every minute together that I felt how chatty he had become.
Apart from uttering single vocabulary, such as naming objects, he started speaking 2 vocabulary words in one sentence. For instance, he would comment on his oranges saying "ta'ne ali" (meaning there are seeds). Oranges have been one of his winter favourites this year; he would point it out wherever he finds one, naming it "zu" (the second word of the proper noun in Chinese, ju-zu). Of course, there are some shots in the dark, too. For instance, during the Halloween period, he never failed to point out to me all the orange, decorative pumpkins he found on the street, "zu!!!"
Also, he learnt a magical word, "a'kei'de", meaning "open it" in Japanese, whenever he gets his hands on something he wants. The imperative expression would make adults follow his instruction so that he can have his wish fulfilled. It is absolutely amusing to see how he uses the word and innocently believes that the word alone will make all his curiosity answered.
