Badminton girls in cultural performance

3 of my badminton-mates and their team gave an amazing performance during the international week in the university of York. As usual, this annual event invited a number of countries to give the university community a flavor of cultural diversity.

The badminton girls and their team did Soran Bushi, a traditional Japanese dance invented by fishermen in early days. Their hard work paid off when they were granted the second place in the competition.

I had been seeing them practicing hard almost for an entire month, encountering them in campus supermarket where they were looking for ice-cream to give themselves a treat after exhausting rehearsals. Physical fatigue, however, seemed never to remove sparkles of excitement and enthusiasm in their eyes. They were always smiling and cheerfully talking about their final presentation.
I am very happy for them indeed and pleased that I didn't miss it.
Well-done, girls!

PS. The first prize goes to the group dance by India and Pakistan . That was really stunningly impressive!
PS. I envy these people who can express themselves comfortably through rhythms of the body.

A tragic-comic episode, "Fluffy, I am not your real daddy", from Simione Lia's new book, Fluffy, gave me a thoughtful and emotional blow. An interview of Lia is on the Guardian website, "Rabbiting on".
I am remembering a story that I once attempted to write and draw for my pet dog, which was also a fluffy snow ball.

Birthday

It's been more than a week after the celebration of my birthday. That was an amazing week that began with a homely and sweet celebration between sisters and ended with a merry joint party.

I really don't know how to talk about birthdays. Being grateful and being more grateful are what I can only think of. I feel very priveleged to have many wonderful and caring friends to share the time with.
